The Rising Church Stained Glass Restoration
We’re pleased to announce the completion of our most recent church stained glass restoration project at The Rising Church. The Rising Church was built back in 1913 and is located in Arvada, CO. This community church is known for its homeless outreach and is beloved by those in the neighborhood. One night after the church had closed, someone walking by had thought they heard a commotion coming from inside. They decided to throw stones through the stained glass windows in order to stop the incident. Luckily, there wasn’t anyone inside but the windows were damaged all the same.
Our Church Stained Glass Restoration Project and Challenges
The church contacted us to examine their vandalized stained glass. Upon inspection, we found that 90% of the windows had been damaged. We transported these back to our studio to complete our proprietary restoration process. We soaked the windows in a soapy blend in order to remove all of the grime and dirt. This also allows for a quicker disassembly. From there, we replaced all the damaged glass pieces either from custom glass manufacturing or our existing inventory. The hand-painted glass was restored with an invisible mending process to keep the original intact. New lead was created for these windows as well. One of the challenges was that the windows were actually missing their original lead which was taken out so that they could fit the church. We resized the windows and shaved some of them down on-site to create a seamless fit. Exterior protection was also installed alongside exterior framing painting.
